What if I am drawn to the priesthood?

You can become a Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer if you feel drawn to their way of life and mission. People are often attracted to the Redemptorists because they want:

  • A life centered on faith and service
  • Missionary work
  • Community life with other priests or brothers
  • Spiritual purpose
  • Work with people who are struggling or overlooked

The Redemptorists especially value:
  • Compassion
  • Adaptability
  • Willingness to serve different cultures
  • Prayer and community
  • Openness to being sent where needed.

If you feel energized by helping people, living in community, learning from different cultures, and serving beyond your comfort zone, those can be signs that this vocation fits you.

In a religious vocation like becoming a Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, “the call” usually means a sense that God is inviting you toward a particular way of life.

People describe the call in different ways. It is often not a voice or dramatic sign. More commonly, it can feel like:

  • a deep attraction to prayer and service,
  • peace when thinking about religious life,
  • a strong desire to help others spiritually,
  • repeated thoughts about becoming a priest or brother,
  • feeling fulfilled in ministry or community life,
  • or a sense that this path gives your life meaning.

The Church also believes a vocation is confirmed gradually:

  • through prayer,
  • guidance from others,
  • your own abilities and desires,
  • and the discernment of the religious community itself.

So the “call” is understood as both:

  1. an inner movement in your heart, and
  2. recognition by the community that you are suited for the vocation.

For Redemptorists specifically, the call often connects with missionary service, compassion for people in need, and willingness to go wherever you are sent.
